Building Confidence

Our Building Confidence pillar focuses on giving people the skills and opportunities to become financially secure. We know there are a variety of social and structural factors that can make it very difficult to save and plan for the future. We work with charity partners Age UK, The Talent Foundry and Junior Achievement to deliver projects that aim to give people the tools to reach their full potential by providing essential skills, building resilience and enhancing financial capability.

The Talent Foundry - Skills for Life

Many disadvantaged students are disproportionately affected by challenges, including the cost-of-living crisis. By continuing to expand our long-standing Skills for Life programme, we have increased our support to young people across the UK.

Skills for Life offers a range of bespoke employability initiatives including a mentoring programme for sixth form students, a numeracy workshop for students in Key Stage 3, and an online employability skills platform.

Designed by Talent Foundry in partnership with M&G plc, the sessions are fully facilitated with professional, experienced leads who engage the students and M&G colleagues act as mentors.

Junior Achievement Europe - 10X Challenge

The 10X Challenge enterprise programme and digital platform helps young people develop entrepreneurial and financial capability skills, particularly investment and longer-term saving, and empowers teachers to be confident about teaching financial capability. It is run over four weeks and young people use a £/€10 pledge to get their business ideas off the ground. As a result of M&G’s funding, 10X Challenge now engages students in schools across France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Spain and the UK.

Age UK - Building resilience

Age UK and M&G plc forged a strategic partnership over a decade ago, based on a shared goal to help vulnerable older people prepare for the biggest challenges of later life, giving them the best chance of staying resilient through the toughest times. Over the years this partnership has evolved and developed.

The Age UK Building Resilience programme aims to equip vulnerable, older people with the tools, skills and opportunities needed to build resilience at difficult stages of their lives. The holistic support offered includes in-depth information and advice, support and referrals to appropriate services through Age UK’s Advice Line.
